If you've had your power tools for a few years, it might be time for replacements. Power tools can wear out over time, especially when they get a lot of use. When your power tools get a lot of use, they can wear out faster than you'd expect. If you're not sure it's time for replacement tools, read the list below. If you're dealing with any of the problems listed here, it's time to invest in new power tools.

Tools Have Lost Power

If your power tools have lost their power, now's the time to replace them. Once your tools wear out, they can lose power. That means they'll go slower than they should. It could also mean that your power tools won't turn on at all. Don't wait until you lose power altogether. Invest in new power tools as soon as you notice a loss of power.

Lights are Flickering

If the lights flicker when you use your power tools, the first thing you should do is test the outlets. If the outlets don't flicker when you use them for other devices, the problem is with your power tools. Outdated power tools can use more electricity. Plus, if your power tools could be shorting out. Both of those issues can cause the lights to flicker when you use your power tools. If that's happening, you need to replace your power tools right away.

Blades are Wobbly

If you've noticed that the blades are wobbly when you use your circular saw, don't wait to replace your tools. Over time, the blades can loosen on your circular saws. When that happens, the blades can come off while you're using the saw. Or, the blades can get jammed inside the wood. Those issues can cause serious injuries. That's why you should replace your circular saw as soon as the blades get wobbly.

Bits Won't Tighten

If your drill bits won't tighten, it's time for a replacement. Your drill won't work right if the bits aren't tight. Unfortunately, once the housing breaks, bits won't tighten into place. Don't get stuck in the middle of an important project. Replace your electric drill as soon as the bits stop fitting.

Cords are Frayed

If you're worried about your power tools, look at the cords. It's not uncommon for power cords to get frayed. When cords get frayed, there's a risk of electrical shocks and electrical fires. Don't take that chance. Replace your power tools as soon as the cords get frayed.
